Music On Stage - The Shows

over the years has staged many shows and here is just one of them.

performed the classic Old English epic poem 'Beowulf'. It had been ten years on from the first appearance at the annual events at Sarehole Mill (formerly known as the Tolkien Weekend). Now  have become a staple of the event, and a very eagerly awaited spectacle for the many visitors. This year was the theme of 'Myths and Monsters' so the performance fitted perfectly. 

The group recreated the poetry of Beowulf and atmosphere of Beowulf amongst the trees and shadows of Moseley Bog.

Larger crowds than anticipated braved the changeable conditions to see what was considered to be a very successful event.

Tolkien was heavily influenced by the magical worlds created within the myths of Beowulf and often referenced language and fables within his own stories. 

Apparently he even made his own translation of 'Beowulf' from the natural Anglo-Saxon, but this has never been published.
