Emily Hancock Interviewed for the Piper Piper II - Oct 2010

Name of Actress:      Emily Hancock

Role in Pied Piper II:    Kara Loft

Age:     15

Years Acting:    5(ish)

Where you initially learnt your skills?     Henley in Arden high school

What are the most memorable moments in your acting career to date?      Playing a man in my last primary school play was interesting...I had to put on a man’s voice, which is difficult when you’re only 11!  Also playing the ghost, Emmanuelle, in Garlic and Lavender was really good fun.

What made you decide to be in the Pied Piper II?       The opportunity came up because I’m in MOSkeetoes. During the read through there were several characters which I’d wanted to play, and luckily a managed to get the part of Kara, which is turning out to be a great part to play.

Give a short but complete description of your character   Kara Loft is an extremely feisty character. She can be dimwitted, and her (not so amazing) fighting skills are what she prizes herself on. She is incredibly big headed and is teased for this by her brother, Tom; she relies on him to do all the brainwork, while she gets stuck in on the action. Most of the time, however, her brother’s plans don’t work out as they should, and she tries to plant the blame on him.

Who were your heroes when you were young?      Bill and Ben, simply because I liked the idea of being able to sleep in a flower pot. Then it changed to Jackie Chan: I also wanted to be a kung-fu fighter.

What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?     I consider surviving high school without ever breaking a bone or being beaten up a feat of nature.

When did you know that you wanted to be an actor?     I’d always enjoyed it from a very young age, but when I played the main part in a primary school production I realised how much I wanted to carry on with it.

Funniest joke you can think of on the spot?     A fish swims into a wall. Dam.
